Enugu State – July 20, 2019 – The event which was an important IT event not just because it helps in development of the IT community in the country but also because it focuses on the growth of entrepreneurs in the country especially the female gender.

The event which saw various dignitaries from all works of life in attendance was a strategic one which helped develop women in entrepreneurship.

SPEAKERS

One of the keynote speakers Chief Loretta Aniagolu during airing her thoughts on the necessary principles every entrepreneur should have said “Money should never be the end goal of any individual rather excellence should be the target of every individual whether business oriented or not.

” She continued “The 21st century is the age of women, since women have the right to legally own a business the only reason holding the female golf back is her mind set so the millennial and the younger generation have an opportunity that the older women do not have because the ladies of these generation can go to school and have businesses, giving them no limit.

Another speaker Mrs. Nonyelum Umahi gave her thoughts on why female entrepreneurs are not progressing in the country; she says “Entrepreneur is a marathon race.

Take your time to build your business because in your bid to outbid another business and show that you have arrived you will only get into more trouble.

So do take time to build the foundation of your business because when you build the foundation of your business you will not get it wrong”.

She quoted “Own a bag that cost ten dollars and contain 290 dollars inside rather than owning a bag that costs 290 dollars and contains 10 dollars inside. Other speakers included Mrs. Anwuli Anyachebelu and Mrs. Anichebe.

The event also boasted a panel which included unique successful ladies including Mrs. Ebere Okoye, Mrs. Nkemdirim Chinelo Arukwe and the owner of Gossip hairs and Cosmetics in giving their various thoughts in different entrepreneurial principles and ethics which has worked for them.

One of the panelists the owner of Gossip Hairs and Cosmetics on answering the question why she has been consistent with her line of work and not deviating she said” I only think beauty and cosmetics with a complete focus. I don’t look at diverting into other markets, making me clearly focused on selling my products and making my customers reliable on me”.

She also said “As an Entrepreneur you must have an intense personal interest in your business. Cross-Selling is an important aspect of marketing and can only be done by having a direct personal interest in your business”.

HOST

Mr. Chuks Edoga, Host of the GBG event 2019 also had a lot to say on the role of the government in helping female entrepreneurs in the country in his word “The government should have some basic amenities in place for female entrepreneurs so as to encourage the ladies in this industry.

He also said “Entrepreneurship is hard both for male and female entrepreneurs in the country so one should have the will to survive and persevere in this aspect of life. And should also specify the problem he/she is solving and know if the effort is worth it”.

He also aired his opinion on collaboration between tech companies saying it will be the foundation for future growth and development in the IT community in the South-East.

He said “Tech companies’ cooperation in the south-east will definitely boost IT in this region of the country and will also help in creating awareness of technology around the country”.

CONCLUSION

GBG 2019 was an insightful event which definitely highlighted its topic with views from successful entrepreneurs from different works of life. The event proved to be an important event for women in business, developing them and giving them the necessary information to help maximize success in their businesses.

The host in his words also says that more of such event is expected and this will ultimately help build a strong IT community in the south-eastern part of Nigeria.
