ENUGU STATE – July. 6, 2019 – The annual Code Jam event competition which was held in Enugu State on July 6, 2019 was a major tech event in the south east. The resounding cornerstone of the event was the impressive growth of IT among young Nigerians based in the south-east. For those in the tech community, this comes as a major keystone in the encouragement of technological growth in the country.
Clearly, the Code Jam organizers were ready to meet the expectations of the tech audience all over the country, and the insightful address by Mr. Chinenye Mba-Uzoukwu of GrandCentral Technological Company ensured this. With informed statement fused with excitement Mr. Mba-Uzoukwu advised that “The bulk of the problem of any young aspiring tech individual in the country is the mindset of this individual”.
His concerns, like many of those across the event, were focused on the self improvement and development of young technology experts: imploring the audience to consider how the industry will be developed, especially through personal development of young tech minds in the country – which he predicted is the foundation for technological growth in the country.
However, across the wider event it was explained how effective technological development of young minds is now a basic necessity for every tech savvy individual from software development to breakthrough innovative technological ideas. The fact that young programmers was so integrated into the event is also telling: Whilst technological development is so much needed in the country, we can clearly see that personal development in relation with tech is already becoming the foundation of tech enhancement and growth necessary for IT development in the country.
The competition was a code cracker for programmers in attendance. It featured important tech provoking questions which required critical thinking from the competitors and at the same time helped improve their coding skill and speed. The competition which involved both male and female individuals presented a true test for coders and was invigorating. Through simple scoring method, the programmers were rated and scored depending on their speed and ability to answer these questions correctly.
The winners were decided by the host and other judges in attendance after a long period of Code Jamming. The event’s winners for the year 2019 include Ezechi Nnaemeka who was the winner, Olibie Chidera the first runner-up, Onyegbu Ifedili and Okorie Chiemerie who were tied in the third place. With presentation of the gifts to winners by various technological companies including Ogwugo Market for first place, Techo Craft for second place, and by the host of the Code Jam event for the third place winners of the event. The gift presentation was captured by various media companies present at the event.
